Review of Joe (2014) by Daniel T — 07 Jul 2014
Joe (2014) is a good film, but it feels like David Gordon Green doesn't understand what it's like to be a redneck. There are a lot of scenes that just seem very cliché and typical of what people would expect out of a film dealing with white trash folk.
Very unoriginal. But despite this, the film is still enjoyable. Nicholas Cage is actually good, and Tye Sheridan, who not only resembles a young Tom Hardy, has the same type charismatic charm about him; he's just enjoyable to watch.
But what's really good about this film is that it had a very down to earth and homey feel to it. It's not glamorized.
