Review of Joe (2014) by Ryan J — 07 Jul 2015
Nic Cage plays Joe, he meets Gary when he wants to earn some money on his crew that go around poisoning trees for a lumber company. Gary has an absolute drunken evil man for a father and looks at Joe as a father figure.
Joe has some anger issues and doesn't like the police much due to his extensive criminal record but he tries hard to be a good man. Things start to happen in the dead end redneck hellhole they reside in and you just know it will only end badly.
I have always been a Nic Cage fan, He has definitely made a heaps of turkeys but once in a while he turns in a cracking role, this is one that follows Frozen Ground in the last 6 months. This film is really good.
Well acted, well shot, with some crazy stuff going down. Definitely a part of the world I would never want to belong to. A brutal existence.
