Review of Jodhaa Akbar (2008) by Sayantan C — 01 Jul 2009
Ashutosh Gowariker is without a doubt, India's finest director. In Jodhaa Akbar, he creates a movie that will leave you in disbelief at the extent of his skills. He functions along the same lines of Cecil B.
DeMille, Ridley Scott or Akira Kurosawa to create a film of epic proportions. The blockbuster casting of Roshan and Rai had me worried but they surprise in what can only be called the finest performances in both of their careers.
A. R. Rahman and Javed Akhtar do what they do best to create brilliant music accompanied by fantastic dance choreography. At the heart of the whole film is Gowariker's masterful hand in directing.
The cinematography shocks you, it is like nothing you will ever see. This is one of the world's finer films, make no mistake, and it is India's best since Lagaan.
