Review of Jobs (2013) by Michael H — 23 Feb 2014
The whole time I was watching this movie, I kept thinking to myself "This is not a very good movie." That's a bad sign. I enjoyed watching the parody film "iSteve" more that I enjoyed this movie.
The story was good and there was a lot of material to work with, but the filmmakers didn't execute it properly. They tried to make this movie into more of a drama than it actually was. You can tell by some of the music and camera movements that an effort was made to make this look like a serious dramatic Hollywood film, but Ashton Kutcher's performance was sub-par and the editing seemed very amateur.
Half the time, I felt like I was watching a made-for-TV movie. And I refuse to believe that Ashton Kutcher was the best choice to play Steve Jobs. I never once felt like I was watching Steve Jobs on the screen.
I felt like I was watching Ashton Kutcher play an angry version of himself, and I just couldn't take him seriously. All I gathered from this movie was that Ashton Kutcher is a mediocre actor, and Steve Jobs is brilliant business innovator and a total asshole.
I wasn't drawn in to this movie as much as I should have been, but it also wasn't so bad that I had to turn it off. I give it 2 our of 5 stars.
