Review of Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011) by Kem W — 22 Oct 2012
"Jiro" is a fun documentary on the life of Jiro Ono, an 85-yo sushi chef in Tokyo. He owns a 10-seat restaurant from which he serves, according to Michelin, the world's greatest sushi. Interesting to watch with his obsessive dedication to his craft.
His son's visits to the fish market were more interesting, however, where I learned live octopuses are tough to get into a bag. I've never eaten sushi, but now that I've watched "Jiro" and how the sushi chefs use their bare hands to roll the raw fish and rice into balls for consumption, I'll never want to eat it.
Recommended.
