Review of Jindabyne (2006) by James C — 11 Oct 2007
Ray Lawrence's follow up to the superb Lantana keeps a similar lyrical pace, but feels a touch flat for it.
A body of an Aboriginal girl found during a fishing trip offers up some interesting moral complexities, but far too quickly the movie makes some strange choices.
Byrne and Linney are excellent as usual, but we feel very little sympathy for the gradual breakdown of their relationship due to lack of focus and seemingly a lack of confidence as to which direction best suits the movie.
A rather disappointing movie that could do with 20 minutes trimming.
