Review of Jigsaw (2017) by Rendan L — 30 Oct 2017
What a great movie! I watched all the previous Saw movies in preparation before going to see this in theaters. Tobin Bell is just awesome. He delivers a riveting performance, eery and scary, and for longtime fans like myself, makes another hit movie to the Jigsaw series. All the twists and mind-games are front and center, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Yes, this is scary; and yes, this keeps you surprised and totally unable to predict what's next. Very well done.
One disappointment is the lack of fluidity from Saw 3D to Jigsaw, in that... no return of Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes). You would have thought he might make a return as he was part of the major twist in the ending of Saw 3D. And a minor disappointment, I love 3D movies, and so I wish this new Jigsaw was also made in 3D as well, but that's minor compared to the seeming restart of the Jigsaw with the all new cast, apart from Jigsaw/John. Maybe he'll make a return in the future. Either way, it doesn't totally ruin the movie.
I can't wait for the next one!
