Review of Jigsaw (2017) by Tom B — 20 Jan 2018
Close friends that are familiar with my passion for extreme theatrical horror, can easily imagine how thrilled I was to see the SAW franchise carry-on after a seven-year hiatus. Unfortunately, the fad for "torture endurance trials" has slackened off and diminished into a lost cause.
With such a prosperous past; an eight addition to the series could have cornered the market with its potential to be the greatest and most successful horror movie of all time, but instead; whoever directed this, dropped the ball and churned out an uninspiring homage to the series' most unfavorable attributes.
It's a run-of-the-mill detective horror that strictly banks off the attested prestige of its predecessors, along with a customary ending super-twist that hardly compensates for the triteful plot components, in company of traps that lack the stimuli to appease hardcore fans.
