Review of Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (2001) by Jeremy P — 03 Jul 2009
The title, the characters, the synopsis, everything made me think this movie would be hilariously bad. Instead, it was just bad. Granted, I couldn't make it through more than the first half hour, but at that point, my curiosity was satisfied.
The concept was great, but there were just too many liberties taken (the portrayal of a "modern" Jesus being what ultimately ruined it for me) that destroyed any hope of this being a funny, clever B-movie spoof.
It was not nearly subtle enough, and it appears as if they were trying way too hard. The concept was ridiculous enough on its own, and should have sufficed, but they went way over the top.
