Review of Jersey Girl (2004) by Lindsey R — 01 May 2009
With the exception of a grooooooossssss diaper changing scene this was a surprisingly sweet movie. Kevin Smith lays off a lot of his hyper-verbal adolescent dialogue and goes a more standard Hollywood route.
Those expecting to see Clerks with a romantic twist will be disappointed, but this movie is enjoyable. The ending falls into insincere Holywood morality--give up your personal dreams for love, ambition is evil yeah yeah yeah (and how much time do studio executives spend with their families while they are $pinning dream$?).
So, there are some elements of the story that are truly frustrating. But I think not only did the film get unnecessarily bagged, it does enough glow to warm you up if you've had a dreary day. For true heart try Chasing Amy.
