Review of Jersey Girl (2004) by Dan K — 17 Nov 2010
First of all, this movie was totally sold wrong as a romantic comedy. Secondly, this movie could have been much, much better than it turned out if several key performers (Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler and Jennifer Lopez) hadn't given terrible performances and the script had toned down the frequent points of cliched dialogue that keep the plot running.
Raquel Castro (as the little girl, Gertie) is adorable and George Carlin is pretty good as her grandfather, too, so they had some hard-to-get-right pieces here. Still, it turned out to be a pretty average film.
