Review of Jersey Boys (2014) by Patrick B — 10 Jan 2015
In order to appreciate this movie, you have to understand that this is an attempt to bring a Broadway style play to the screen staying true to the key elements. The scene in which Frankie asks what kind of perfume is being worn, and the response is an over pronounced, "Soap!" This is over acting common to the stage.
Once you can appreciate that, only then can you truly appreciate this movie. The Jersey Boys themselves are well cast. Add that to a cast chalk full of character acting at its best and it creates a perfect campy storm that should be consumed as pure entertainment, and not to be taken seriously.
A guilty pleasure that I have watched 10 times while away in Belgium. It is the only movie that I have downloaded, so maybe my hand is forced. I love this movie and will see the play when it comes to Seattle again.
