This is the first movie I saw where I realized that movies were formulaic. I realized that because this movie wasn't - and yet it was amazing. In one scene Redford says and does absolutely nothing for about 2 and half minutes.
Its a shot of his profile only. And here's the rub; Its some of the best acting Iv'e ever seen. All the greats of any art form have caught on to the secret of great art . . . it can be overdone.
This movie is a monument to that truth.
