Review of Jeremiah Johnson (1972) by Patrick R — 11 Dec 2007
A man leaves civilization for the mountains, where he struggles for survival. Apart from the scenery and two of the peripheral characters, the movies best quality is the character development of Jeremiah Johnson. The mountain transforms him from an unknowledgable, soft land-lubber into a hardened, jaded survivor.
The movie is a great metaphor for turn of the century American--it shows that rugged individualism that we value to progress & thrive.
