Review of Jeremiah Johnson (1972) by Ryan V — 03 Jul 2014
Jeremiah Johnson (Robert Redford), weary of civilization, decides to try his luck as a mountain man in the Rockies. This engaging-yet-laconic film follows him through all the tests of strength and endurance that shape him into a nigh-mythical hero.
The understated loveliness of the Utah wilderness serves as an apt location for Sydney Pollack's methodical photography. The end result is a poignant movie filled with emotion, scope, humor, and quiet fire.
