It had all the elements from the cartoon in it. They are just updated, and used more realistically/differently than what fans are going to expect. The biggest slap in the face is changing the music from rock to pop.
Not cool. The mid credits scene also had that cartoony vibe the whole movie needed. Took itself a little to seriously.
