Review of Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2012) by Adam Z — 13 Jan 2013
I went into this movie with few expectations other than perhaps hoping to find a sort of Indie-comedy. After all, we're talking Jason Segel and Ed Helms in a movie with very little advertising. What I found was it's much more on the Indie side of the spectrum than the pure comedy side.
There was a few laughs throughout the film, many of which are from awkward, yet realistic moments. The acting all around drew me in and took me for a ride on an emotional roller coaster of many quirky and through-provoking, disconnected, yet overarching stories.
The polarity of some of the characters helps to convey the struggle they each face in similar, but very different ways. If watched carefully, this isn't a light movie and downright depressing at times, but also fantastic.
While not for everybody, I was glad to discover this one and hope many more people are, too.
