Review of JCVD (2008) by Craig W — 22 Aug 2010
This is actually a really good and interesting film.
JC does a very geniune and touching performance as himself. You can tell he just wanted to this film. It isn't another cheesy action flick that he's famous for. The mixing up of the timelines slows the pace of the film so you get more of a feel for it. And the arty touches I think add to the satire.
There is a intense self awareness that his career has not been perfect, and his life probably hasn't gone the way he wanted, but this film puts up a good defence for the cheesy action films and for JC's achievements.
