Review of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) by Richard L — 09 Mar 2011
This is a movie you can't understand if you don't know Kevin Smith's universe, that is, his other movies. It's an inside joke of inside jokes with lots of cultural references (like many parodies these days, for instance the Scary Movie series, and countless others) and a ludicrous plot (reminiscent of movies like the 80's Cheech and Chong and Mike Judge's series and movies about Beavis and Butthead), but a well-made and entertaining one.
Smith and Mewes act decently, some of the camos are priceless (as in many movies with Will Ferrell, and also Stephen Chow's Kung-Fu Hustle, another inside joke albeit a Chinese one) while some others feel like a kid's fantasies come true.
