Review of Jaws 2 (1978) by Steven L — 01 Jan 2009
Feh. A complete waste of time, money and, in some cases, talent. Roy Scheider is a fine actor, but without Dreyfuss and Shaw, and frankly, Spielberg to play off of, it comes off as exactly what it is: a pale imitation of the original.
I know this has been said before, but this really is just a precursor to the 80's slasher flick, with your requiste disposable, screaming teenagers, set in the water. I'm not going to sit here and blame this movie for a genre that would eventually, to put it mildly, produce some of the worst movies of the past 30 years, but this was certainly was an early example of what was to come.
