Review of Jaws 2 (1978) by Chriscorc876 — 17 Apr 2023
Jaws 2" is a classic thriller that delivers some solid scares and suspenseful moments, even if it doesn't quite match up to the iconic original. The plot follows Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) as he tries to protect the citizens of Amity Island from another great white shark attack.
One of the strengths of "Jaws 2" is the tension that director Jeannot Szwarc builds throughout the film. The shark attacks are intense and nerve-wracking, and there are some genuinely scary moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The performances are also strong, particularly Scheider's portrayal of Chief Brody. He brings a sense of gravitas and urgency to the role, and you can feel his determination to protect his community at all costs.
However, "Jaws 2" does suffer from some pacing issues and a lack of character development. While the shark attacks are thrilling, there are long stretches of the film where not much happens, and some of the supporting characters feel underdeveloped and one-dimensional.
Overall, "Jaws 2" is a solid sequel that's worth watching for fans of the original and for anyone who enjoys a good thriller. While it may not quite reach the heights of its predecessor, it still manages to deliver some tense and exciting moments that will keep you entertained.
