Review of Jaws 2 (1978) by Tom W — 27 Mar 2010
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the water... In all of the unknown depths of the vast ocean, how could there be only one where another Jaws attack happens again? None of man's fantasies of evil could compare with the reality of the shark. When two divers are killed and a photograph was found, Brody claims a shark attack is responsible but gets fired from being town chief. As a group of teens sneak out into the waters and some of them met their deaths, Brody goes out to save any remaining survivors, including his two sons.
Directed by Jeannot Szwarc, Jaws 2 features great acting performances from the following cast:
1.) Roy Scheider (Martin Brody).
2.) Lorraine Gary (Ellen Brody).
3.) Murray Hamilton (Larry Vaughn).
4.) Mark Gruner (Mike Brody).
I liked the first Jaws that I thought that a good bite from it deserves another movie: A mind-blowing sequel that came out of the sea and scared audiences with its blood-gushing shark attacks. By seeing the shark in scenes throughout I couldn't tell if it was a prop or not, but the old-school special effects (SFX) made it looked like it was the real thing. The scenes of people attacked by it were at all shocking, and good thing I didn't freak out by them. Plus, the ominous cello music that's used here still remains. I know it's crazy that Spielberg didn't return in the director's chair and Richard Dreyfuss supposedly backing out for this installment, at least I was glad to see Mr. Scheider return to kill that great white beast once more. In conclusion, Jaws 2 is a great sequel, and when you watch it its intensity will make you fear the water once more.
