Review of Jaws (1975) by Bruce H — 19 Nov 2013
One of my all-time favorite films! Even though the shark was mechanical ( actually, there were three mechanical sharks used in the film), the suspense is classic, and the famous theme music stands today as one of the most iconic, unseen 'actors' throughout the entire story that unfolds on the screen!
Then, there are all those memorable dialogues from the film:
"We're gonna' need a bigger boat!".
"Here lies the body of Mary Lee; died at the age of a hundred and three....".
"That's a twenty footer! ".
"Twenty-five! Three tons of 'im!".
Not many films will ever match the publc's paranoia that resulted from this thriller! Not many sea adventures will ever give sharks the overwhelming popularity that made 'great white' such a common household term! Admit it... when someone says the words 'great white shark,' doesn't the word "JAWS" come to mind?
Other movies have tried, but not one of them can match the original 'shark movie'..... JAWS! The shark is still working!
