Review of Jaws (1975) by Ronald-Thomas F — 02 Apr 2016
Jaws (1975): Everyone knows Spielberg, but this is the movie which launched his career. Seriously, do I mean need to do the plot? Who doesn't know the theme music? Yet, a lot of people haven't seen this movie which really stands up after all these decades.
There are no splashy effects or over-the-top moments. This was the FIRST summer blockbuster from which came all others. For the time, it made a lot of money. You could never remake this movie and have it have the same impact.
This movie forever changed how movies are made and marketed. Watch the movie and you will see why. Still, very suspenseful. You can, even here, begin to see what in time would make Spielberg one of today's best directors.
