Review of Jaws (1975) by Anna B — 15 May 2016
Perhaps because its influence has been diluted across pop-culture in general it's nowhere near as effective experiencing it for the first time now as it would have been in the past. And perhaps the modern enlightened view of sharks reduces its visceral impact as well.
Because this was not, to me, someone easily scared, in the least bit scary, except for that dumb jump scare with the dead body in the boat. But it's still a tense thriller for the most part. Not scary, but tense, and exciting.
And it's pretty cool that the whole second half is suddenly just three men in a boat.
