Review of Jason Lives - Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) by Dathan R — 13 Aug 2012
Flixter rating at 57%, Jason is given impossible powers by impossible circumstances, and it only proves to be another movie to make money off of Jason fans... this was one of those films that I had fully expected to hate and prepared for failure, so why is it I, a guy who only has seen these to,say he has, had such a fun time watching this?
There are many things that made this work and while a 5 star rating seems a little drastic, I do so while comparing to the first four and likely the ones to follow.
First the intro was perfect. they right off show us the people we need to know about and establish a connection.
Second they went heavy on the comic relief, helping the surprises be more... surprising.
Third the deaths were more realistic than most death scenes even if Jason WAS an actual zombie.
Fourth, Jason's face is covered by his mask the whole time and doesn't waste minutes upon minutes of seeing his face.
Fifth is the plot is thicker and gives Jason a somewhat motive for his killings.
Lastly, they gave Jason children as targets to level up the scare. This immediately frightens viewers for the safety of the kids.
