Review of Jason Lives - Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) by Grant T — 30 Mar 2015

The 6th entry in the long lasting franchise is nowhere near as interesting or well shot as the first two films but this sequel has a few good ideas and interesting new additions to the franchise. I thought the idea of having kids in the film was interesting adding a notion of rescuing quest to the film.

The two main characters have a great alchemy on screen and the acting is actually pretty good, considering the lack of material and silliness of some dialogues, they do ok. Visually the film is not bad at all.

Jason new impersonator has great charisma and the new design og his costume and his by now iconic mask make him a strange entity emerging from the dark, lurking from every angle possible, like a predator thirsty for evermore blood.

The film is far less gory than most sequels in this franchise, but the cabin painted entirely in blood was a great idea and added a touch of horror. some camera angle and shot compositions were very well elaborated with a bit of work on the cinematography, here and there we were granted some beautiful shots of Jason's mask half in the shadow that were photographically pretty amazing and beautiful to look at.

Now praising the technical aspect doesn't improve the story nor the film itself. It's a pretty entertaining Slasher that exist solely to make money let's face it. Plots holes and inaccuracies are as big as they come and the film is far from being a masterpiece but it's fun, silly, funny, thrilling and easy.

.. so it should please the fans of this very long running and strangely popular franchise.
