Review of Jason and the Argonauts (1963) by Timothy F — 03 Aug 2012
One of the better film adaptations of Greek mythology, Jason and the Argonauts is a refreshingly family-friendly adventure story. This is one of the earlier films featuring the stop-motion work of special effects legend Ray Harryhausen, and even if it's not very realistic by today's standards, it's still fun to watch.
It manages to be epic despite its small scale values, and entertains throughout. Overall, I've always preferred this early experimentation of a movie's complete reliance on special effects.
