Review of Jason and the Argonauts (1963) by Jon P — 15 Jun 2014
Showcasing some of Ray Harryhausen's finest ever effects work, skeleton-style, Don Chaffey's campy Greek adventure is a real cinematic wonder. Sets, mattes, rear-projection, miniatures and trick edits are all in full swing and all very poorly concealed, but seeing pre-CGI techniques at work with such transparency as this is a majestic, unmissable and unique experience for any film lover.
Fantastically flawed and brimming with ardency, just like all the greatest of the Greek heroes.
