Review of Japanese Story (2003) by Vanessa R — 04 Mar 2006
The Life Aquatic.
Eh..it was very disjointed like a bunch of skits all joined up together. I always like Bill murray though, he has the best deadpan delivery in the world. The fake documentaries were pretty funny and I also liked William Dafoe's German guy who would turn up, rant inexplicably, end up looking extremely hurt for some reason then stalk off. Otherwise, not really my thing.
Japanese Story.
Lovely and very sad (I blubbed a lot). Toni Collette is very good as as extraordinarily bitchy Australian saddled with a weird Japanese businessman for work. Cross cultural issues ensue and they fall in love. I seem to have been watching a lot of film with confused gender roles lately. It's really interesting.
Walked uphill for a kilometre yestrday. I know this is not much but I wanted to die (from the pain of wlaking, this was not suicide. But it could have being homicide..) Why people do this sort of thing for fun I will never understand. I was going to post some photos but I'm languishing in dial up hell because of the broadband fascists.
The cat has just leapt on my back and momentarily hung there until I threw him off. I don't know why, he used to do that when he was a kitten. Of course then he weighed half a kilo, now he weighs six.
Am going to remove some blood now..
