Review of Jane Eyre (2011) by Danielle U — 21 Sep 2011
This is the story of an unfortunate orphan named Jane who has struggled all her life with the unfairness and hardships that life brings her way. She finally finds some solace only to find her new employer is the dark, brooding, and really rather intense Mr.
Rochester, who makes Mr. Darcy seem like all sunshine and rainbows. Jane however falls in love with Rochester rather quickly and without foundation (in my opinion anyway) despite his dark nature. Now here I must admit, I didn't always feel the chemistry between the two leads in this movie.
Sometimes I could feel the intensity that was suppose to be there between them almost like an electric shock and at other times the chemistry just fizzled. This film did have beautiful cinematography though and the music was quite good, but if I want to watch a romantic period piece with a brooding male lead, I think all-in-all I would rather sit down and watch Mr.
Darcy with Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice.
