Review of Jane Eyre (2011) by Manal S — 28 Jan 2013
Despite some fantastic cinematography and great performances from the two leads, Jane Eyre still wasn't all that interesting to me. However, my problem with it relates to the story, which is in no way the fault of talented director Cary Fukunaga, who creates a gorgeously-rendered adaptation of the book of the same name.
Despite my gripes with the story being told, the film rarely if ever devolves into mindless melodrama and will surely satisfy those who enjoyed the book, as this is definitely well-made. Be forewarned though, if you aren't a fan of this sort of 19th century romance story, this adaptation of Jane Eyre isn't likely to change your mind.
