Review of Jane Eyre (2011) by Jonathan B — 22 Dec 2013
There is one main problem with the latest adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's classic and unfortunately it's an integral part of the story: there is little to no chemistry between Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender.
Both are fine actors in their own right, especially the latter, but the passion and sexual tension from the novel are left on the page. This ends up crippling the film and makes it flat more often than not, despite some decent directing and efforts by the rest of the cast.
I read the book back in high school yet remember little, but I can say the film leaves much to be desired and fails to reach the heights of the last Pride & Prejudice.
