A drab, depressing adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's classic I wanted to like Jane, respect her fiery independence and stubborn endurance but these qualities were not significantly apparent. The leading male role lacked the developing character of a true byronic hero.
The ending was anti-climatic for a film adaptation. Disappointed.
