Review of Janatha Garage (2016) by John T — 03 Sep 2016
'JG' has nothing much to offer beyond a few well written scenes in the first half featuring Mohanlal. The rest of the movie is just a cliched, bloated mess crafted to simply elicit interest from the masses and fan-bases.
As you'd expect, the heroines are mere eye-candy who appear and disappear almost immediately as a result of contrivances made in the rather uneventful screenplay. The portrayal of heroes and villains is completely superficial and hardly anybody leaves a mark.
BGM is apt but music is at times unnecessarily loud. NTR Jr struggles badly during the emotional scenes, and he barely gets any support from the rest of the cast. A little trimming, especially in the second half, could've helped.
This one gets a very generous 2 out of 5 solely due to Mohanlal's presence.
