I don't really understand why I enjoyed this book so much as a kid, nor do I understand why 96% of the critics approved this film. I suppose this wasn't a bad adaptation of the book, but even my 6 year old daughter saw silliness abound.
The transformation from live action to animation and then back was a nice touch, but served as a gimmick more than anything. Bottom line, this film does not stand up to repeated viewings and therefore is not recommendable.
