Review of Jacob's Ladder (1990) by Robert H — 23 Oct 2010
While some of my fav horror flicks include staples like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, and Nightmare on Elm, Jacob's Ladder is one film I include near the top that is often overlooked by most.
The film is visually stunning, with great visual FX, amazing cinematography and some of the creepiest looking settings ever.
The direction of Adrian Lyne is superb (Lyne has an amazing yet short list of films so it's expected) and the editing in this film, which is very important, is spot on.
The story has tons of metaphors and hints that make you go want to go back and watch the film over and over trying to find them all.
This film is a pure joy to watch for me and for those that love psychological thrillers done well, I'm sure it will be a pleasure as well.
Highly recommended in my books.
