Review of Jacob's Ladder (1942) by Pete L — 05 Jan 2011
A freaky psychological thriller that deals with a government conspiracy. This is definitely one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen and I loved it!!
Plot: A Vietnam war veteran begins having disturbing visions, seeing demon like creatures, and his dead son. He soon begins to loose his sanity and his dreams and reality become intertwined.
As I said before this is a very weird and at times frightening film. The movie has many great twists and what's great about it is that you are just a clueless as the character. I won't ruin the ending and it's revelation, but I will say this, it is totally unexpected(well it was for me and I'm usually pretty good at calling endings). I can see where a lot of horror/ thrillers copied of this. Tim Robbins is great as the lead character and I was surprised to see Macaulay Culkin in this. This was during his pre Home Alone days. Jason Alexander is pretty good even though he doesnt have much screen time. This is a good movie if you arent afraid to think way outside of the box.
