Review of Jackpot (2012) by Stephen C — 10 Dec 2013
Scandinavian films are having a high time at the moment and this film is a long long way away from Lars Von Trier or Ignmar Bergman as you could get.
Based on the booke by Jo Nesbo this is a jet black comedy with plenty of violence and some laughs as well.
Oscar is a factory supervisor in a plastic xmas tree firm which employs ex cons.
When three of them decide to place a spread bet on the football Oscar fills in and changes the coupon leading to a big win and plenty of murder and mayhem involving severed heads ,nail guns ,sex dolls and sun beds.
The film reminded me of early Guy Ritchie but thanks to the cast and the writing you really cant help laughing your head off at some of the touches on display here.
My personal fave is the palstic trees changing colour as the bodies are disposed of in the companies shredder.
It may not be the most subtle film but I throughly enjoyed it.
