Review of Jackie (2016) by Jd M — 13 Jan 2017
Overall a good movie. This is a movie I feel that a movie critic would love more than a casual movie goer. The acting in it was great, especially from Natalie Portman. It has good story progression, great multi-dimensional characters, and clearly set and explored themes.
The problem is that the tone is dreary the entire time. I am not saying that I have a problem with a deep, sad story, but there are few levels to this story when it comes to tone. The whole movie is her in mourning and harkening back to better times.
Such a constant dreary tone makes it a movie that a person appreciates, but not thoroughly enjoy. It is one of those movies I am glad I saw, it is very well done, but probably will never seek out again.
