A real mixed bag - it's a combination of family-friendly whimsey and darker fantasy, like a cross between a pantomime and Lord of the Rings...the actors don't seem to know whether to play it seriously or for laughs, except Ewan McGregor who just repeats his Obi Wan impression.
However some of the effects, particularly the giants, are impressive and the final all-out battle is pretty exciting - but it takes a bit too long getting there.
