Review of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014) by D-Old G — 29 Jun 2014
What an absolute heap of crap this movie was. I generally never watch these "thrillers and action" flicks but I said to myself, oh, here it is on the cable TV make an exception. WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS. Awful stuff, and Branagh and Costner playing super James Bond heroes and they should just stay home under the mattress and keep away from stuff like this and while they are at it they should take Liam Niesen with them.
I am a boring type film fan, you know, I like Masterpiece Theater and film where they use as little as possible of high tech plots, car chases and shooting from the hip. I often ask myself what would script writers do to create their work if they were forbidden from using all the high tech instruments and mini plots that they throw in whenever they find themselves unable to write something worthwhile. I think all movies now have that common denominator that whenever in trouble to finish the story, just throw in some sub plot about HIGH TECH CRAP that is hard to understand and that allows the script writer to collect his paycheck. AWFUL CRAP! Who watches this stuff anyway? I mean, is our society lowered its expectations and standards to this level... obviously yes??
