Entertains because of it's short length and suspense, but bombs big time when it comes to providing a film with real complexity. Personally I prefer other movie spies like Jason Bourne and James Bond.
Unless you just really want to see a Jack Ryan film, I would highly recommend The Hunt for Red October.
