Review of Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (2007) by John T — 07 Oct 2008
Kind of reminded me of Evil Dead.
So I totally thought this would be like Matthew Blackheart: Monster Smasher. A kind of goofy comedy. I didn't think it'd be a horror flick and almost passed it up. I mean the name is Monster Slayer... such a weak name.
I'm glad I did end up watching it, though. It was totally not what I expected. The creatures looked pretty freaky. The acting was good. The gore/special effects were good. There was a lot more horror and drama than comedy. It was a solid flick.
And it has Robert Englund (Freddy) in it, so... yeah, not too shabby.
Totally exceeded my expectations. Jack was a bad ass and the end fights were gory enough to make Troma proud.
