Review of Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (2007) by Richard H — 26 Jan 2009
This film is a rare treat and is a grea homage to the great monster movies of the 80's and even ray harryhausens movies.
The story begins with Jack Brooks a man who sees his parents and sister killed in front of his eyes then as he grows up he has a lot of anger raging through him but no outlet and then ends becoming a plumber, he then has to save his small town from a monster outbreak.
This film has everything great lead star, great action,an old man telling important back story through a tale, well designed monsters, blood and gore. The music is even remiscent of the 50's period. By no means is this a masterpiece but the sheer fun to be had with this film is enough to make up or the flaws of a first time feature for these guys.
Very good, funny and just down right enjoyable, a must see for everybody!
*important if you like this film, there is a sequel in the works and it hopes to have a bigger budget.
