Review of J. Edgar (2011) by Alvaro V — 15 Feb 2014
I still rated this movie as high as I could, contrary to the general consensus. It is about as a complex character as can be, that of J Edgar Hoover. It is just impossible to tell his lifelong story compacted in a span of about two hours.
Leonardo di Caprio is trying hard to be a great actor, which doesn't come naturally but he is working at it and is convincing at times, the problem is that we always see Leonardo Di Caprio the actor instead of the character somehow.
The favourable rating of this movie is actually for Di Caprio's effort.
