Review of I've Loved You So Long (2008) by Alysia V — 24 Mar 2009
I didn't quite know what to expect out of this film and really only rented it because 1.) I love foreign films and 2.) It was nominated for a few Oscars. Let's just say I was quite glad that I decided to watch it-I was pleasantly pleased.
Kristin Scott Thomas made a wonderful transition into a French film. Her emotions were very real, raw and uncensored. You can feel her hesitancy and apathy towards entering a world that has become a stranger to her for the past 15 years.
Her sister, portayed by Elsa Zylberstein did a lovely job and played such a sweet and warm character. I loved the way she welcomed "Juliette" with open arms into her home and into her family, after so long.
Their relationship in this movie is great and the scene where "Juliette" finally opens up and just screams and sobs is heartbreakingly beautiful. It's a very real movie with very real emotions and was extremely well done, all the way around.
