Review of Ivanhoe (1952) by Jj G — 22 Feb 2007
Unbelievably wooden acting and often equally wooden direction somehow don't dull the excitement and sweep of Sir Walter Scott's story. Entertaining, spectacular, and sometimes really good. The climax is genuinely tense, the other action scenes are fun (if not exceptional), and among the cast members, Elizabeth Taylor does do an excellent job.
Or maybe I was just blinded by her beauty - man, is she gorgeous in this film.
