Review of It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010) by Bevan S — 31 Jan 2012
Kier Gilchrist (Craig), Marshall / Moosh from 'The United States of Tara', is excellent in this realistic depiction of a modern adult psychiatric ward. The depressed patient who stays in bed all day, morning process group, the ubiquitous art class, queing for night time meds in sleepig attire, all theses details make this movie credible.
Zach Galifianakis (Bobby) under plays his role enough to make it believable that Craig is really mentoring his character and not so much vice versa. The only disapponting aspect to the story is the boy meets girl / boy loses girl / boy gets girl plot device.
Heart warming and enjoyable.
