Review of It's Complicated (2009) by Kenneth D — 29 Jan 2011
"It's Complicated" is a good film. But with a terrific leading and supporting cast, it meets and far surpasses any other comedy from the last decade.
Meryl Streep is at her comedic best and, at 60, looks as good as she ever has. Her role as Jane cements what many already knew - the 16-time nominee can be outstanding in any role.
She is supported by an uproarious Alec Baldwin, as her ex-husband Jake, who has the audience doubled-over. His scenes opposite Streep are so good, he makes us feel as charmed and dirty watching as she feels receiving his advances.
Martin is at his usual tomfoolery, but in a heartwarming and adorably nerdy way - assuming nerd enjoy getting high with their architectural design clients.
John Krasinski is fantastic and earns his billing next to he veteran co-stars. Indeed, the scene in which Krasinski's character finds himself in-the-know about Jane and Jake's affair, should become instant classic.
The story, from Nancy Meyers is original and refreshing. Highly recommended!
